Taramandal: The Tadpole Repertory
Oct 8 - Oct 12: Project Arts Centre (Cube)
"...compelling stories of dreams and failure and the resurrection of the spirit..." The Hindu
Taramandal is based on Satyajit Ray’s short story, 'Patol Babu, Film Star', which tells of a chance opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream.
At fifty or so, Patol Babu has led a rather unglamorous life. His one passion, acting, has never really amounted to anything other than a few theatre performances as a child in his local community group or at school. So when one day the possibility of a part in a Bollywood film opens up, Patol embraces the opportunity with open arms.
Humorous and melancholy, Taramandal tells stories that seem to be about people we have met and known in our own lifetime. Devised and performed by The Tadpole Repertory, one of Delhi’s most prominent and prolific theatre groups, this is a play which captures the sincerity and ardour of human dreams and the courage and determination it takes to follow them.
Performed in English, Hindi and Bengali with English surtitles.
